5Upgrade from FrontPage 2000Jul 09, 2009
Although I have developed a dozen or so web sites since 1995, some of which I use in my own businesses[...], I am not a full scale dynamic web developer. In other words, I only know the basics of HTML which I learned with FrontPage 98, but have been able to get by with static sites that I have developed with FrontPage 98 & FrontPage 2000.

Finally realizing that FrontPage is obsolete I found the upgrade from FrontPage 2000 to Expression web to be smooth, and even though I'm only a neophite developer I was impressed with the expanded capabilities of Expression web for more expert developers. The online tutorials are excellent with an impressive host of other parts of the web development suite that are available for those who want or need to do the most dynamic and modern web development.

And although Expression web has many more tools and features than I will probably ever use, I found it fine for a beginning or basic developer to use in creating those first static web sites, at quite a reasonable upgrade price.

4Easy to UseJun 26, 2009
I've been both a Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage/Expression Web user since 1999. Microsoft has proven to be a time saver for quick, good looking, and manuverable websites. Microsoft software has it's quirks and so does Dreamweaver. If I was a full-time web maintainer I might be able to justify the cost of Adobe's Suite, but for now the cost, user friendliness, quality, and CSS control in Expression Web 2 meets my needs. EW2 loaded easily and I was using it within minutes...no glitches. Look forward to EW3 which adds secure FTP.

4Nice program, but I still prefer Front PageJun 22, 2009
Let me start by saying that if you have never used Front Page, you won't know what you are missing with Expression Web 2. Overall, it (EW2)is a very nice program that allows you to stick with simple templates or get much more sophisticated with CSS. If you have a web site that was created using Front Page, you can still publish your site with Extensions turned on, but there is no navigation page and the ability to make navigation bars based using the wizard. There is also no photo gallery wizard and the EW for dummies book I have states that the coding used in Front Page to generate these handy features was not "quite koshure" when it came to the code. That's a shame because using those features, I could whip up a web site in 1/3 the time it takes most people using HTML code or even EW2.

All-in-all, however, this program gets the job done and does have plenty of convenient features. I am still learning EW2, but will try to dig deeper into its specifics as time allows.

5Great anticipationJun 04, 2009
I created my website in 1997 using MS Publisher, then used Front Page for 11 years. But when the repairman switched my Win XP Pro to XP Home without notifying me, I was unable to edit for 18 months - no server extensions.

Finally found the free trial version of Expression Web2 and all is great! As another review says, I do miss the ability to create additional navigation bars. But it is easy to publish new pages from MS Publisher 2007 although they can only be edited in MS Pub. I like the way the HTML is highlighted if I've made an error - very easy to find.
